West Branch superintendent announces resignation

Doug Phillips, West Branch Local School District superintendent, is resigning to take a job at Iowa State University.

BELOIT, Ohio (WKBN) – After just five months at the helm, the superintendent of West Branch Local School District is stepping down.

Doug Phillips is resigning from his post and heading to Iowa State University, where he is taking an administrative position in the football offices.

Phillips said he was not looking for a new job but was offered the new spot by Iowa State University head football coach Matt Campbell, who he used to coach with at Bowling Green State University. Phillips said he regrets that he will not get to spend more time in the West Branch district, and said he enjoyed the bonds he made in his short tenure.

He will formally resign at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
