Pennsylvania Turnpike tolls increasing in 2016

Taking a ride on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will cost you more, starting this Sunday.

Pennsylvania Turnpike tolls are increasing 6 percent in the new year. State officials say the increase will help the state repay loans used for road projects.

The Turnpike Commission expects an annual increase of 3 to 6 percent until 2044.

E-ZPass customers typically pay lower tolls — they also make up about 75 percent of the highway’s traffic.
