Democratic Party chairman expects Clinton to visit Youngstown

The Mahoning County Democratic Party chairman says Hillary Clinton will make a campaign stop in Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County Democratic Party chairman, David Betras, is still promising that Youngstown will be visited by a presidential candidate, and says he’s already heard from Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

One person Betras will not be inviting to a campaign visit is Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber Director Tom Humphries.

Betras got an email recently from the Chamber office, saying it wanted to be involved in any campaign visit.

“They don’t support any of the things the Democratic Party is fighting for,” Betras said. “I don’t understand why he wanted to be involved, other than to somehow parlay it into something for him or the Chamber, and we don’t play that way.”

Betras expects to hear from the Bernie Sanders campaign soon about a possible Youngstown visit.

Ohio’s primary election is March 15th.
