Ryan Channell and Samantha Thurman were arrested in Girard on drug charges.

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Girard Police arrested two adults on drug charges last week after a witness said they were using heroin in traffic, according to a police report.

Ryan Channell, 31, was charged with permitting drug abuse and Samantha S. Thurman, 20, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.

An officer was dispatched to N. State St. on December 21, just before 4 p.m. Police said that a witness called in to report a car with a male and female inside, possibly using heroin, in traffic.

Police found Channell and Thurman were discovered in the car on W. Liberty St. in front of the Emmanuel House, according to police.

After the officer confronted them, police say that Channell admitted he had been using, but claimed Thurman had not.

The officer reported that Channell also admitted possession of a needle that was still in the car.

According to the report, police found a syringe containing heroin in Thurman’s pocket. Police also reported finding a crack pipe, spoon and needle in a makeup bag on the dashboard.
