YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man accused of attacking a woman with a hammer in her house over the weekend appeared in court Wednesday.

Authorities charged Timothy Smith with felonious assault and burglary, and a judge set his bond at $25,000

Smith requested and was granted a court-appointed lawyer and is to have no contact with the victim.

Police say Smith forced his way into a relative’s home on Bott Street around 7 o’clock Saturday night. Police say he assaulted the woman with a hammer, but left when young children in the home called for help.
