Cold lets Seven Springs Mountain Resort resume snow-making

CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) – One of southwestern Pennsylvania’s major ski resorts is again making snow.

A warmer than normal December limited snow-making at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

A pre-Christmas cold snap enabled the resort about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh to open on Dec. 22, but with only four of its slopes open. The resort has 32 slopes and trails.

But spokeswoman Katie Buchan says colder temperatures enabled the resort to begin making snow again. And as long as temperatures are at 28 degrees or less, the resort will be making snow.

Buchan says a lack of snow has kept some visitors away through the holidays, but says season pass holders have been turning out to ski.

Seven Springs’ sister resort, Hidden Valley, has been closed since Dec. 30, though it has resumed making snow, too.
