BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – With cold temperatures in the morning, there is always the concern of problems starting your car. For school districts, it is important that buses start in order to get students to school on time.

Many districts, like Boardman Local Schools, use diesel engine buses, and they need engine heaters to get going.

“Unless it gets something that’s a record low, we have not had any issues. We do have some older buses. You may have a mechanical issue or two. That’s why we have back up buses,” said Boardman Schools Director of Operations Tim Saxton.

Some districts also use a fuel additive so it won’t gel in the cold temperatures.
