House damaged, dog killed by fire in Howland Twp.

A family escaped a fire in Howland Township Monday morning.

HOWLAND,Ohio (WKBN) – Crews worked early Monday morning to control a fire at a house in Trumbull County.

Firefighters came to a house on Micawber Road in Howland Township about 3 a.m. Monday.

Most of the flames were contained on the second floor.

A man and a woman were sleeping in the house and got out safely, according to a press release from the Howland Fire Department. One of the couple’s dogs died from smoke inhalation.

Twenty-five firefighters from the Cortland, Vienna, Brookfield and the Youngstown Air Base fire departments helped fight the fire.

Fire officials have not determined how much money repairs will cost or the cause of the fire.
