Salem uses hot 3rd quarter to down South Range

The Quakers hit 8 of their 14 three pointers in the third quarter to pull away from the Raiders Tuesday.

Salem, OH (WKBN) – The first half could not be more evenly matched between Salem and South Range Tuesday, but the Quakers used a strong third quarter to pull away for a 78-58 win.

The game was tied at 29 after two quarters, but the Quakers scorched the nets out of the break, making 8 three pointers to build a double digit lead heading into the final frame.

Salem finished with 14 triples on the night and were led by Jon Gerace with 18 points and 11 rebounds. D.J. Pullie also had 15 points and 8 assists for Salem, while Trey Toothman finished with 12 points and Garrett Dickey 11.

South Range (8-2) head coach John Cullen was going for his 500th career win Tuesday, but will have to wait at least until Saturday when they take on Southern. The Raiders were led by Preston Stitt with 15 points.

Salem improves to 4-4 on the season and will play at Marlington Friday.
