Boardman girls blow by Mooney

Krista Johnson led the Spartans with a game-high 24 points in the win.

Youngstown, OH (WKBN) – The Boardman girls basketball team defeated Cardinal Mooney 54-38 Wednesday at Cardinal Mooney High School.

It was a defensive battle early, as the Spartans led 28-17 at halftime. But in the second half, Boardman extended their lead, outscoring the Cardinals, 16-8 in the 3rd quarter.

Krista Johnson continued her impressive senior season with a game-high 24 points for Boardman. Lauren Gabrielle also added 13. Mooney was led by Renee Santisi and Taylor Martin, who both had 9 points.

Boardman improves to 9-3 on the season and play at Warren Harding Saturday. Mooney falls to 1-11 and travel to Valley Christian Saturday.
