SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – A Sharon Regional Health System executive was struck Wednesday night while walking to her car, according to Sharon Police Chief Gerald Smith.

The victim was identified as Donna Walters, chief information officer of Sharon Regional Health System. Police say she was crossing State Street at Jefferson Avenue to go to the hospital parking lot on Jefferson when a driver with a suspended license hit her in the crosswalk around 8 p.m.

Smith said Walters was taken to the emergency room with what appeared to be multiple broken bones. He said she needs surgery to her wrist.

The driver, Cortney Norris, 39, of Farrell, faces a felony charge for causing an injury accident while driving under suspension, Smith said.

She appeared before Mercer County District Justice Brian Arthur after the crash and was released on a $7,500 bond. There’s a hearing Jan. 15 in front of Judge Dennis Songer.
