SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – We are one month away from the OHSAA’s Selection Sunday for boys’ basketball. Teams are currently vying for seeding in next month’s district tournament. Here’s a look at the Salem District.

Division III – Salem District
Projected Seeding as of January 6
-The Mustangs are out to an 11-0 start which has included 5 wins on the road and 4 on neutral sites. Tuslaw lends a unit with multiple players between 6’2 and 6’11 including their post (6’11, senior) John Carroll.
(2)Canton Central Catholic (5-1)
-Central Catholic has won their last five games which included a victory over St. Thomas Aquinas (43-41).
(3)St. Thomas Aquinas (4-3)
-The Knights have dropped their three games by a total of eleven points against Lake Center Christian, Trinity, and Central Catholic.
(4)South Range (8-2)
-The Raiders registered their marquee victory over Bristol (57-55) at the Hope Classic. South Range suffered a 20-point defeat at Salem on Tuesday to snap their eight-game win streak.
-Springfield has fallen at the hands of McDonald, Wellsville and Lisbon. They’ve posted wins against Southern, Lowellville and Western Reserve. The Tigers have won four of their last five contests.
-The Falcons have lost their last two with a showdown with Manchester set for Friday (January 8).
-The Panthers have won two of their last three. They’ll be hosting Fairless on Friday (January 8).
-The Clippers have lost to the likes of Sebring, McDonald, Mineral Ridge, Western Reserve, South Range, and Springfield this year. They’ve also notched a win over Southern (58-49) in Wes Cross’ second game as head coach (December 18).
-The Golden Eagles had lost five of their last six before Tuesday’s night victory over Columbiana (56-48).
-Based off of their strength of schedule, the Red Devils have played just one team who is currently below 500 (Liberty). The Red Devils have yet to score 50 points in a contest.
-The Vikings have fallen in each of their last seven matchups after their 5-point win over Heritage Christian on December 4.

-The Bulldogs have lost seven straight with a showdown with Crestview scheduled for Friday (January 8).
-The Rebels have dropped their last ten with a trip to East Palestine set for Friday (January 8).
