NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at a trailer home in Newton Township Friday morning.

The fire started just before 8 a.m. at a trailer home at 88 Queens Drive, at the Blue Water Manor Mobile Home Park.

Evelyn Broadrick lives at the house with her family. She said her daughter, Jeanette, had just gotten home from work and was getting ready for bed when she heard a loud “pop,” ran out and saw the home catch fire.

The fire did not injure anyone but killed a dog who was inside.

Jacob Moon lives a few doors down. He was on his way back home when he saw smoke. As he got closer, he saw Jeanette, who had just escaped from a window and was very emotional.

“In a panic, really in a panic, almost about to cry,” Moon said about Jeannette. “I mean, I would expect the same thing. I’d do the same thing if it was my house.”

Evelyn says now that home is a total loss, the family has to figure out how to move forward.

“Now we don’t know where we’re going to go,” Evelyn said.
