COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) — A three-day winning streak ended Friday for a Columbiana native who has appeared on the television show, “Jeopardy!”
Columbiana native Steven Belding was the lead contestant each night this week, beginning on Tuesday, but he came in second place Friday night. His total winnings for the week amount to $60,801.
“This has been the greatest experience, so much more than I could have imagined, not only regarding the results, but also the outpouring of support and good wishes from everyone, especially people back home in Columbiana,” he told the Morning Journal on Friday.
According to the Morning Journal, Belding plans to put some of the earnings toward traveling with his husband, Tony Cedeno. The couple want to visit London for live theater and Hawaii.
He also said during the Thursday episode that he will put some of the money toward buying his mother a new furnace.
His mother, father and his twin brother still live in Columbiana. Belding now lives in Tennessee.
Belding was just $800 behind Friday’s winner.
