YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A small fire in the Metropolitan Tower building in downtown Youngstown early Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to an insurance office on the 8th floor of the First National Bank building at the corner of West Federal and Market Streets around 4:30 a.m. Friday. They quickly doused the flames.

The Youngstown Fire Department says the fire was contained to a decorative planter which had numerous extension cords inside it. The department is looking into the exact cause of the fire.

The fire sent a lot of smoke throughout the 8th floor, but the building is open. There was also water damage done to the hallway.

No injuries were reported.
