Police arrest suspect in Cincinnati hit-and-run fatality

CINCINNATI (AP) – The suspect in the hit-and-run death of a participant in a Cincinnati run-walk event has been arrested.

Thomas Stidhum is charged in Hamilton County with four counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide.

Police say the 24-year-old Cincinnati man also will be charged with resisting arrest because he tried to elude officers who found him Friday at a home in the Bond Hill neighborhood. Police say stun guns were used to subdue him.

Court records listed no attorney for him.

Authorities allege he drove onto a sidewalk and fatally struck 57-year-old Cathy Chatfield on the morning of Dec. 6, during the annual Seven Hills Run. They say the driver ripped the license plates off his car and fled.

Stidhum also was sought on unrelated drug and domestic violence charges.
