EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – This season, we’ve seen a number of prolific scorers from all over the four counties. The area has a couple of Division I talent and is stockpiled with All-State candidates. One player who seems to riding under the radar in most area fans’ eyes is a three-year starter from East Liverpool. Isaac Davidson is averaging 27.5 points per game for the 9-4 Potters. He leads the team in assists (5.4) and has connected on 40 three-point shots while amassing a free throw percentage of 91.7% on 108 attempts.

Career Points: 940
“”Isaac was born to be a Potter basketball player,” says his coach Nate Conley. “He has been with me in my first six years (two as a ball boy). What he has done in his four years isn’t by accident, he has put in the time and it’s paying off. He has put up more shots after practice and in the off-season than any other player I have ever been around (college or high school).”
The East Liverpool program has produced many exceptional standouts over the years including the likes of Kenny Cunningham, Wayne Talbott, Mike Stowers, Stephen Flores, Forrest Kirby, Dan Swoger, and Conley as well as many others who have established the Potters as a team who have become synonymous with their winning basketball tradition. On the state level, East Liverpool has reached the Final Four five times and was runner-ups in 1947.
Conley stated that when Davidson attempted to make his 40th free throw in a row earlier in the year, he had to stop watching. “What made it even more special is that everyone in the gym knew that he was close to breaking the record and every time he went to the line everyone stopped what they were doing and held their breath, exhaling every time he made one! It was awesome to see everyone show their support. He was upset that he finally missed one, but he has already started a new streak!”
The Potters have lost their four games this season by a combined total of 15 points. With a matchup at Buckeye Local on Friday, East Liverpool has won five of their last six games.
Conley is quick to point out that his star senior plays to win every day, “whether during practice, a game or after practice shooting with teammates. He plays the game the right way, he doesn’t force anything and is a very unselfish player. He is a great role model, a great teammate but most importantly a great person. He’s been a pleasure to coach and I look forward to seeing what he and his teammates do during the final stretch of the season.”
