Semi and pickup collide in Kinsman

A semi and pickup truck collided in Kinsman, Ohio.

KINSMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A pickup truck and tractor-trailer collided Friday morning in Kinsman.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Guadalupe Aguilar, 57, of Laredo, Texas, was attempting to back his tractor-trailer from Route 5 onto Morford East Road, blocking Route 5, when it was hit by a pickup truck driven by Keith Wellmon, 55, of Meadville, Pa.

Wellmon’s truck was forced underneath the semi, smashing the roof.

The driver of the pickup was flown by medical helicopter to Saint Elizabeth Youngstown with moderate injuries. Aguilar was not injured.

Route 5 was closed at the scene for about 3 hours as crews worked to clear the road. The accident happened at 7 a.m.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts.
