POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Poland native Anthony Fontes is adding another unique competition to his record.

The beard and mustache aficionado who competes in beard competitions across the globe recently appeared on the television game show “Let’s Make a Deal.” And while Fontes’ appearance was eventually cut from the show which aired on Monday, he said the experience was surreal.

Anthony Fontes said he was wearing this outfit when he appeared on the television game show, "Let's Make a Deal."

“I used to watch it all the time with my grandma,” he said.

On a whim, Fontes tried to get onto “Let’s Make a Deal” while visiting family in Los Angeles. He had been on the show once before, but he said he had never been called onto the stage until his latest appearance.

To get into the show, Fontes had to wait in line and go through an interview process.

It was likely Fontes’ unique facial hair and quirky outfit that caught the attention of the show. Those who go to the show are encouraged to wear wacky outfits, and Fontes said he was wearing his famed “aviator outfit,” and he curled his large mustache.

Alongside host Wayne Brady, Fontes was presented with two envelopes to choose from. One had a stack of money, which was about $300, and the other was a four-day trip from Los Angeles to Chicago, valued at just under $5,000.

Fontes said he made the right choice and is planning his Chicago trip when he receives more details from the show.

“We may try and swing it for if there happens to be a beard and mustache competition there,” he said, laughing.

While he was disappointed that his appearance didn’t make the final show, he said it is likely that you’ll be able to see him.

“I’m sure in the audience you’ll see me,” he said. “I’m the only guy with an upside down beard.”
