Suspect in St. Clair Twp. home invasion expected in court

Austin Sullivan of Kensington was arrested in Texas after police say he and another suspect broke into a house and assaulted the homeowner.

GLENMOOR, Ohio (WKBN) – A suspect in a Columbiana County home invasion that happened in December is expected in court on Tuesday.

Austin Sullivan, 18, is charged with aggravated burglary in connection to a break-in on Cannons Mill Road in St. Clair Township.

The Morning Journal reports that Sullivan was flown back to Columbiana County from Texas on Friday. He was arrested in Ellis County, Texas on January 1st.

Sullivan was tracked by St. Clair Township police after they received word that he might be headed to the home of his girlfriend’s relative, according to the Morning Journal.

Police say Sullivan and another suspect entered the home of Charles Smith, 69, demanding access to a safe. Smith was assaulted and hospitalized with serious facial injuries.

The case is still under investigation and police are working on identifying additional suspects.
