Lakeview girls stay perfect in AAC play

The Bulldogs held off a late rally from the Cardinals to win in overtime Wednesday.

Canfield, OH (WKBN) – The Lakeview girls basketball team held on to defeat Canfield, 56-49 in overtime Wednesday at Canfield High School.

It was a back and forth first half, as the Bulldogs took a 25-22 lead into the break. Lakeview took command of the 3rd quarter, and outscored the Cardinals, 17-4 heading to the fourth.

But the Cardinals rallied late in the final frame and tied the game on a three pointer by Ashley Kaleel as time expired. The Bulldogs came out strong in the overtime though, and held on for the 7 point victory.

Kaleel finished with 16 points for the Cardinals, while Alexandra Stanic added 10. Annie Pavlansky scored a game-high 20 points for Lakeview, and Addie Becker had 18.

Lakeview improves to 16-1 overall and 9-0 in All American Conference play. Canfield drops to 12-4 and 8-1 in the conference.
