YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ursuline Sisters have named a new director for Sister Jerome’s Mission, with the retirement of Sister Jerome Corcoran.
Maraline Kubik will take over Sister Jerome’s Mission — a ministry of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown that was founded by Sister Jerome, who spent more than 75 years in active ministry.
Kubik is a long time supporter of the Ursuline Sisters ministries and was formerly an award-winning journalist and public relations specialist. She said her goal as director is to get more students to college.
“If we can educate students, they graduate from college, they get a job where they can earn a decent living supporting themselves and their families, then we break that cycle. That is where we have the greatest potential,” Kubik said.
Sister Jerome’s final day as director is January 29. After her retirement, she plans on tutoring prison inmates to help them earn a GED.
