Top northern Ohio federal prosecutor to step down

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The top federal prosecutor for northern Ohio is stepping down next month.

Steven Dettelbach has been the US Attorney for the Northern District since 2009. He says he’s resigning as of February 5th.

Dettelbach oversaw a number of high profile cases, including the prosecution of a group of Amish men for hate crimes.

Before taking the top job, Dettelbach served as an Assistant US Attorney for 12 years.

After stepping down, he plans to start working in private practice.
