YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The 14th annual Martin Luther King Diversity Breakfast was held Thursday morning, as hundreds of people gathered on YSU’s campus.
Organizers said the purpose of the breakfast is to push forward the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Speakers spread the message of promoting non-violence and being engaged in the community.
“Most of all, to get engaged in all the different organizations and activities that are going on to try to promote an education where people can do better,” YSU Student Diversity Director William Blake said. “Because when you know more, you can do better in terms of making our society a powerful institution.”
Dr. Emma Fraser Pendleton was the keynote speaker at the breakfast.
Organizers are hoping everyone would walk from the breakfast with the passion to change their communities.
