YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and local State Farm Agents brought Club Connect, a literacy-based program, to the Youngstown Community School Friday as a part of its Success After 6 initiative.
Club Connect provides books to the school through the Scholastic Reading Oasis, a membership for each child to the Club Connect website with literacy-based learning tools and activities the students can access in and out of the classroom, as well as parent engagement tools to encourage reading in the home and during the summer recess.
“I think the United Way has identified a need here in Youngstown, and has found a great partner in the Youngstown Community School,” North Lima State Farm Agent Jim Leugers said. “And we’re happy and honored to be a part of that situation where we can help and just add to that experience, add to the education environment here at the Youngstown Community School in the city of Youngstown and hopefully helps as many kids as we possibly can along with the United Way.”
The State Farm agents and the State Farm Foundation contributed $10,000 toward Club Connect with the State Farm Foundation contributing an additional $5,000 to Success After 6.
