Howland hands Canfield first conference loss

Howland's Sara Price had 27 as her Howland Tigers got revenge on Canfield after an early season loss to the Cardinals.

HOWLAND, OH (WKBN)-Howland had an 18-point lead at the break but Canfield scratched and clawed their way back to force overtime but in the end it wasn’t enough as the Tigers beat the Cardinals 64-62 in overtime Saturday evening.

It was in the 2nd quarter that Howland made a run led by Ball State commit Sara Price who had 14 points in the first half. She led all-scorers with 27 in the game.

But Canfield posted a big 2nd half thanks to Ashley Kaleel who netted 20 points to lead the Cardinals. Freshman Serena Sammarone added 13.

With the win, Howland (12-5, 7-1) avenges an earlier season loss to Canfield (12-5, 8-1) that gave the Tigers their only loss in AAC Red-Tier play. Now both teams have just one loss in the conference, each by the hands of the other.
