UAW 1714 in Lordstown collecting water for Flint citizens

UAW 1714 in Lordstown is collecting donations of bottled water for residents in Flint, Michigan.

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – In light of the Flint water crisis, the United Auto Workers Local 1714 in Lordstown is doing what they can to help.

The UAW is collecting water to donate to Flint citizens. They teamed up with UAW Local 1112 to collect from members and the community.

Water can be dropped off starting Monday at the Local 1714 union hall. They will be collecting until January 29th, and are planning to personally bring it to Flint on February 3rd.

UAW Local 1714 President Robert Molaro says people are bringing cases, bottles and all types of water.

“Well it’s just another opportunity for the UAW to help someone out in need. Someone approached me on the idea of collecting water for brothers and sisters in Flint, and we decided we would do that along with our sister, Local 1112, and it’s been pretty positive.”

Water will be collected Monday through Thursday until 3:30 p.m. and Friday until 2 p.m.
