School board members attend networking dinner at MCCTC

Mahoning County school board members gathered for dinner and a networking opportunity at MCCTC.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Various school boards in Mahoning County had the opportunity to network at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center on Monday evening.

Around 100 school board members and superintendents attended the All County Board of Education annual meeting.

The keynote speaker was Youngstown State President Jim Tressel.

Dinner was served by MCCTC culinary students, which is where the meeting was held.

“All the school board members are here. They get to listen to some good issues or talk about some issues surrounding education, and have that opportunity, meet and greet each other as well,” said Dr. Ron Iarussi of the Mahoning County Educational Service Center.

Among those presented with service awards were Kelly Witmer and Mark Hutson, who have served ten years on the Columbiana School Board. Lisa Powell, with ten years on the Western Reserve School Board, and Marie Dockry, who has 20 years with the Mahoning County Education Service Center and MCCTC, were also awarded.
