Youngstown man caught climbing pole to ‘fix cable’

Tommie Carter was arrested after he was caught climbing down from a utility pole in Youngstown, Ohio.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man police caught climbing down from a utility pole in Youngstown is now behind bars.

Officers saw Tommie Carter, 54, climbing down from a utility pole on East Judson Avenue around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Carter had a box cutter and cable connector in his hand, according to police.

When the officers asked him what he was doing, he told them “I am just trying to fix my cable.”

There were several frayed wires near the pole Carter has just climbed.

Carter was arrested and charged with disrupting public service and having criminal tools.
