Salem boys hold off West Branch

The Quakers built a double digit halftime lead and held off West Branch, 60-56 Friday.

Beloit, OH (WKBN) – The Salem boys basketball team built an early lead and held on to defeat West Branch, 60-56 Friday at West Branch High School.

The Quakers controlled the game early, thanks to full court pressure and points off turnovers. Salem led 34-21 at halftime, but the Warriors came storming back in the second half to keep it close.

Salem’s D.J. Pullie led all scorers with 20 points, while Trey Toothman added 13. Dan Laut and Jon Gerace chipped in 10 points apiece.

West Branch was led by T.J. DeShields with 18 points, while Michael Boosz and Brett Butcher both had 8.

Salem improves to 10-6 overall and 6-5 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference, while West Branch falls to 7-9 and 4-7 in conference play.
