Mahoning Co. Cub Scouts have winter fun at ‘Freeze Out’

The Freeze Out event allows Cub Scouts in Mahoning County to have fun while building character.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Over 200 Cub Scouts in Mahoning County enjoyed several outdoor winter activities at their annual “Freeze Out” on Saturday.

The theme this year was “Join the Force,” in honor of Star Wars. The leaders, or Jedis, led the packs through six stations, where they practiced numerous skills.

Organizers and staff members hope to give participants a winter adventure while building character.

“We try to get them into scenarios where they’re pulling a sled on a field, having fun doing it, but they’re learning about teamwork and they’re out getting physical exercise,” said Freeze Out coordinator Steph Kelly.

The Freeze Out at Camp Stambaugh is targeted for kids age 6 to 10.
