LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – Columbiana County is coming out of budget negotiations nearly $3 million in the black.
The county has a $2.7 million carryover from 2015. Columbiana County Auditor Nancy Milliken said the county sales tax and conservative spending is how they managed to end the year with the extra money.
Milliken said there are no immediate plans for the money as of right now and it will go into a savings program.
“It’s like your checkbook. You don’t want to spend every dime that you have. You want to be conservative and try to have some money in case something happens,” Milliken said.
The county has $22 million to work with this year, but only about $19.5 million has been assigned to projects.
