Troopers seize $95K in marijuana during traffic stop

A wrong turn and slow driving alerted troopers to the car full of pot

Troopers seized more than $95, 000 in marijuana during a traffic stop in Sandusky County, Ohio.

SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio (WKBN) – A car that was traveling too slow on the Ohio Turnpike alerted troopers and ended in a large marijuana bust.

A 2006 Volkswagen Passat was pulled over about 11:40 a.m. Jan. 27 in Sandusky County for driving too slow and an illegal lane change. Troopers say they saw raw marijuana in plain view on the console of the car.

They searched the car and found 21 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, with an estimated value of about $95,130.

The driver, Russell Hines, 29, of Ashland, Oregon was arrested and taken to the Sandusky County Jail . He is charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana.
