Bridge repairs, youth services top concerns in Mercer County

Mercer in top 3 in bridges per capita

Mercer County Commissioners met to discuss major projects in the county.

MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – Mercer County commissioners met over lunch Friday with the community to discuss future plans for the county.

The commissioners wanted to hear directly from their constituents and encouraged an exchange of ideas.

Also in attendance were several representatives from police departments and other public service agencies.

The issues that garnered the most attention were youth services and infrastructure. Commissioner Matt McConnell said Mercer County is among the top in the country for the most bridges per capita.

“We are number three in the number of bridges just in Pennsylvania, so those are the types of expenses and infrastructure that have to be improved and are critically important,” McConnell said.

Commissioners continue to work on a budget and will set planning when that process is complete.
