Passerby alerts crews to Youngstown fire

A passerby called 911 and said flames were coming from the side of the house.

Crews in Youngstown, Ohio were called to a fire on Atkinson Ave.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Investigators with the Youngstown Fire Department are looking into what started a fire at a home on the east side late Thursday night.

Crews were called just before 11 p.m. to a home Atkinson Avenue.

A passerby called 911 and said flames were coming from the side of the house.

Firefighters believe the fire started on one of the lower levels of the home.

People live in the house, but no one was home at the time of the fire.

A supervisor on the scene said the fire was difficult to fight because the floors of the house were unstable.
