UAW Local 1714 approves plan for GM Lordstown

The agreement clears the way for a vote for some of the workers at GM's Lordstown plant

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local union representative confirmed to WKBN Friday that United Auto Workers Local Union 1714 has come to a work agreement with the management General Motors’ Lordstown plant.

Union and plant leaders reached the agreement, which is not yet final, Thursday night. The union will have informational meetings in the coming weeks, but dates have been set for when union members can vote on the agreement to make it official.

The agreement comes a little over two months after General Motors approved an overall deal with the United Auto Workers, a deal which did not specify working conditions for local plants.

UAW Local 1714 covers about 1,300 people.
