NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Eastwood Mall was filled with future kindergartners on Saturday for the county-wide kindergarten transition fair.
Over 300 parents and kids interacted with educators from several Trumbull County schools.
Kids could also get a preview of school activities through interactive learning stations based on the Ohio Department of Education Early Learning Standards.
They also boarded a real school bus to prepare for the first day.
“I started doing research, and it made me really realize that kindergarten is a community event,” said. “If you can get the schools and the families and communities supporting this, children are going to be more successful.”
Volunteers hope the fair will provide fun for kids, and good insight for parents as to what their kids will be learning.
