Semi catches fire on Ohio Turnpike

The fire broke out in the truck near the gate at exit 218

A tractor trailer caught fire on the Ohio Turnpike in Jackson Township.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – A tractor-trailer caught fire Monday morning around 8 a.m. on the Ohio Turnpike.

The fire broke out in the truck near the gate at exit 218. The exit is close to where Interstate 76 and Interstate 80 meet near the Meander Reservoir.

Everyone got out of the truck safely. No injuries were reported.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the driver saw the panel of the truck flicker, got out, opened the hood, and saw smoke before the truck burst into flames. The Austintown and Jackson Fire Departments put out the fire.

Traffic was backed up for a few minutes while the road was cleared. The truck was carrying bingo supplies.
