NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – Police have arrested a Boardman man, wanted in connection with the theft of jewelry which police said he pawned at a local jewelry store.
Randell Weaver, 53, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after turning himself into District Judge Jerry Cartwright’s Office, where a warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. He was charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property and later taken to Lawrence County Jail.
Police said Weaver stole approximately 20 rings from a woman, who was storing them at an acquaintance’s home, in December of 2014. He then sold the rings at a Boardman jewelry store for $1,100, according to police.
In a phone conversation, Weaver said that he was not taken to jail for theft, but rather for unpaid traffic fines.
