Shots fired into Mercer home where small child was inside

People in the house said they heard a vehicle speed away after the shots were fired

Shots were fired into a house in Mercer Borough, Pa.

MERCER BOROUGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Police are investigating after shots were fired into a home in Mercer Borough, shattering the front window.

mercer-window-shootingPolice were called about 5:45 a.m. Sunday to a home along South Otter Street on reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found the front window of the home shattered. Bullets also shattered a window in a Chevrolet Aveo that was parked outside.

Four people were inside the house at the time of the shooting, including a small child. No one was injured.

The people in the house said they heard a vehicle speed away after the shots were fired.

Officers were able to recover fragments of a small caliber bullet from inside the house and another intact bullet from in the ground.

The shooting remains under investigation. Police are still working to determine if the house was the actual target of the shooter.
