Federal judge: Residents allowed to leave Cedarcreek in Warren

New Beginnings Care asked a bankruptcy judge to keep residents from leaving Cedarcreek Healthcare and Rehab

First News received several reports that Cedarcreek in Warren is closing, but officials say it will remain open for now. The health care facility did receive a proposal to have its Medicare license revoked, but it has a chance to respond and appeal.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A federal judge has said New Beginnings cannot force residents to stay in its nursing homes.

New Beginnings Care operated Campus Health Care in Liberty and Cedarcreek Healthcare and Rehab in Warren. Campus Health shut down last month, and the State of Ohio has also recommended the closure of Cedarcreek after inspections reported food shortages and terrible conditions inside the facilities.

New Beginnings Care asked a bankruptcy judge to keep residents from leaving and asked for money from Medicaid for the residents who were leaving. The judge denied both of those requests this week.
