MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) – Ohio Gov. John Kasich is bringing his momentum from New Hampshire to South Carolina this week ahead of this weekend’s debate.

On Wednesday, the Republican presidential hopeful held a town hall meeting at Finn’s Brick Oven in Mount Pleasant.

One of the first voters to ask a question says she’s a lifelong Democrat who plans to vote for the Ohio governor. But she has one concern: “I keep reading that you have a prickly personality…Can you really bring people together to get things done?”

Kasich has pledged to run a positive campaign, but he’s been known at times to be short-tempered in his home state of Ohio.

Kasich said he’s “mellowed out” since his early days in politics. He says his record in Congress and as governor serves as evidence that he can deliver on his promises.

Later in the day, Kasich is participating in a veterans jobs event in downtown Charleston.

He’s also slated to tour Nucor Steel’s facility in Huger and participate in a town hall meeting with employees.

On Thursday, the governor is holding town hall meetings in Georgetown, North Myrtle Beach, Florence, and Mount Pleasant.
