Bazetta couple appears in court, charged with shooting heroin in front of child

Police went to a Bazetta house for the incident on Wednesday evening.

BAZETTA, Ohio (WKBN) – A Bazetta man remains in the Trumbull County Jail, accused of helping his girlfriend shoot-up with heroin as one of their children watched.

David Benner appeared on video this morning in Central Area Court in Cortland. He’s charged with several drug counts, as well as child endangering.

Police said the incident happened this week at the home of his fiancee’s parents, where the couple has been living with their three young children.

Benner’s bond was set at $10,000, and he’s due back in court again next week.

Meantime, Benner’s fiancee Kate Hollis also appeared in court in person Friday morning.

Police said the heroin Benner gave her caused an overdose, and she had to be hospitalized.

She too is facing a child endangering charge, as well as drug abuse.

Judge Tom Campbell agreed to let her stay out of jail on bond, providing she submit to weekly drug testing.

She will also be back in court again next week.
