UAW 1714 members vote on new local contract

The local deal covers work rules and other local issues.

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – There could be a new local labor agreement between General Motors and United Auto Workers Local 1714 at Lordstown on Friday.

The voting on a tentative deal ended at 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. Local agreements cover work rules and other local issues.

Union negotiators and the company worked out the tentative agreement one week ago. Informational meetings followed.

The agreement comes a little over two months after General Motors and the international union approved a national deal.

UAW Local 1714 covers about 1,400 people at the plant.
