Three semis collide on I-80 between Mercer and Venango Counties, causing another multi-car pileup.

Oil City, Penn. (WKBN) – A multi-vehicle accident closed Interstate 80 westbound between Exit 29 in Venango County and Exit 19B in Mercer County Saturday morning.

Three semi trucks collided around 10:30 about a mile west of Route 173, just past Grove City. The trucks rear-ended one another due to slippery road conditions, causing traffic to back up.

The traffic back-up caused another multi-vehicle accident between at least five other cars.

One of the truck drivers sustained severe injury and was flown to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to a press release.

PennDOT was able to get one lane open, and had the road operating normally by noon. Traffic appears to be moving again at a slow pace.

The investigation is ongoing.
