CENTER TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Investigators plan to examine a fire that claimed a government building and nearly all of the equipment inside.
Fire destroyed most of the Center Township Garage Saturday morning. Insurance representatives and investigators will assess the damage on Tuesday.
A lone backhoe was the only thing saved. All of the dump trucks, lawn mowers and a new snow plow that were stored inside were destroyed.
Township Trustee Greg Shive called the fire devastating to the township.
“We lost everything,” he said.
Shive said Columbiana County, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Knox Township are loaning equipment to Center Township in the meantime.
“You never know what’s going to happen. There might be a time when we need help, so doing something like this, someday it will come back to us,” said Brent Rose, Columbiana County ODOT transportation manager.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown. The State Fire Marshal is expected to investigate on Tuesday.
