YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Parts of a road in Youngstown is crumbling, and city officials are not exactly sure why.

Canfield Road near Lanterman’s Mill has exposed bricks underneath the road. The water department was notified about the problem around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Jon Dunlap, superintendent of the Youngstown Water Department, said all they know right now is that a fire hydrant had flooded the area.

“Today, our paving crew went up there and cleaned that up and got cold patch and put the cold patch in the hole and the low spots in the road, so that the traffic wouldn’t be impeded,” Dunlap said.

This spring, the department will do more investigating and find out if the road needs any more repairs.
