Beautiful spring-like weather draws people to local parks

Mill Creek Park in Youngstown was the perfect place to get a break from winter and a taste of spring.

A warm winter day in the Mahoning Valley encourages many people to spend it outdoors.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Saturday’s clear and sunny skies began to melt away the winter blues in the Valley. Whether you were taking your bike out for a spin or hitting the pavement, it was a great day to be outside.

Despite some puddles on the path, people were out in droves at Mill Creek Park to enjoy the picturesque scenery.

“It’s picture perfect postcard weather,” said Maureen Benning.

Benning normally does her walking at the mall in the winter. On Saturday, the weather was so nice, she didn’t want to go back inside.

The animals took advantage of the warmer temperatures as well. Squirrels scurried and birds hopped around the park, while dog owners were out walking their pets.

Doug Thorpe of North Lima tries to visit the park as much as he can, and says he couldn’t pass up such a nice day.

“We haven’t been out for a while. Mill Creek Park is such a gem for our community, it’s nice to come out and enjoy the weather and enjoy the park.”

The weather is making many people feel optimistic about spring, which is right around the corner. Hopefully this weather is a preview of the coming months.
