SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – The Sharon Fire Department continues looking into the cause of a house fire in the 600 block of New Castle Avenue Sunday night. The house is considered a total loss.

Firefighters saw flames on the second floor and in the attic when they arrived.

Initially, they were told the home was vacant, but EMS crews said it was possible there were children inside. At that point, firefighters became more aggressive in getting inside the home.

“We had to go back on the offensive, and we did a primary search of the first and second floors, and sent a crew inside to fight back the flames as they did that,” said Sharon Fire Chief Bob Fiscus. “Luckily, it came back negative, there was no one inside the building.”

Neighbors say the people who lived there had moved out recently.

Fiscus says the home is a total loss.
