YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A vote Monday night at a superintendent’s meeting among ITCL schools that would have split the league into three divisions of six schools each (including mandatory crossover games) has failed to pass.
According to the Morning Journal, league commissioner Paul Andraso was unhappy with the vote.
“It’s really a shame because I think it was one of the best small school leagues in the state, but it looks like it will disband,” Andraso said.
Andraso said that the proposal received 8 votes, but required 12 to pass.
The ITCL (Inter-Tri County League) will continue to play in the 2016-17 school year as planned.
The ITCL includes Columbiana, Crestview, East Palestine, Jackson-Milton, Leetonia, Lisbon, Lowellville, McDonald, Mineral Ridge, Sebring, Southern Local, South Range, Springfield, United, Wellsville and Western Reserve.
The league formed in 2006 following a merger of the Tri-County and Inter-County leagues.
